Membership

Membership of The Squadron entitles members to free access to the club’s facilities during its published opening hours.

Being located in the centre of North Weald Airfield and adjacent to the perimeter track, members enjoy a close view of aircraft movements and also the opportunity to discuss with and ask questions of aircraft owners and pilots.

Members are also offered the opportunity to voluntarily assist in the organisation and running of the many and diverse events that take place.

North Weald, being an historic airfield (11 Group Fighters, Battle of Britain), it is frequently the venue for RAF Reunions, some of which include visits from historic and current military aircraft.  Again, members have access to view these events at close quarters.

Other entertainments that take place include aviation-related talks, film shows, social evenings and other events such as the “Balloon Glow” which are arranged from time to time, details of which are published in The Squadron’s newsletter and diary of events which is forwarded to all members.

Pilot members benefit from all the advantages of non-flying members but also are entitled to free landings and Customs, Immigration and Flight Planning facilities.  (Also see Aircraft Hangarage & Outside Parking, Aircraft Maintenance and Fuel).

Visitors, members and members’ guests should appreciate that an airfield can be a dangerous environment and are therefore asked to be vigilant, particularly in relation to their children, when in the vicinity of aircraft, both moving and static. Parents/guardians are responsible for their accompanying children's safety at all times.  North Weald Flying Services Limited / The Squadron cannot accept responsibility for accidents causing  damage, injury or death except so far as the law requires.  The owners of the airfield, Epping Forest District Council, do not allow pets onto the airfield.
