North Weald has an illustrious history as a military airfield. That history spans two world wars and beyond. Therefore, when in 1986 the Harvard Formation Team needed a new base, two of its members decided to build a replica WW2 fighter squadron base. An original “lend lease” building was moved from the other side of the airfield to accommodate the “NAAFI” restaurant, Squadron administration and flight planning. The Squadron bar is in a Nissen hut. Aircraft maintenance is in a replica Robin hangar and covered aircraft storage in a hangar similar to a Miskins blister.
The Squadron is a members’ club owned and operated by North Weald Flying Services Limited. We have a NAAFI restaurant and licensed Mess bar.
North Weald Flying Services offers CAA-approved aircraft maintenance, aircraft hangarage, outside parking, fuel and full Customs, Immigration and Flight Planning facilities.
